Mary Doubt
is a Fifth (or more) Generation Alaskan, born in Kodiak when Alaska was
still a territory. She traces her lineage through her
grandmother, Mary Metrokin, to a union between one of the original
Russian Colonizers of Alaska and a local Sugpiaq Alutiiq woman.
Her grandfather, Charles Madsen, emigrated from Denmark at an early age
and became a fur trader in the Arctic and Siberia before settling in
Kodiak, where he became a world renowned Big Game Guide and one of the
first Registered Bear Guides in Alaska. (Text provided by Venerable
Uncle Roy Madsen, retired Superior Court Judge). Mary has lived
most of her life in Kodiak, and is a retired speech and language
pathologist.
In the summer, Mary is an avid hiker, picnic enthusiast and amateur
birder, while Ron is very content to go fishing on his boat and to try
to perfect his smoked salmon and salmon caviar recipes.

Ron Doubt
grew up as a Navy military dependent, one of eight children. After
having lived in eight states, he arrived in Alaska in 1966 to attend
the University of Alaska in Fairbanks and has made Alaska his permanent
home. He is a retired high school biology teacher and has also
taught in Italy, Oregon and California.

Mary and Ron have two adult children who have migrated South to California. Ron
and Mary lived and worked in Italy (Rome and Genoa) for 3 years and
love traveling. They have traveled to 37 countries so far, with
many more to explore!
